Publication Manager

How can the law librarian help me?

A Law Librarian can provide legal and procedural information and direct you to resources for conducting your legal research. They can provide instruction on how to use print and electronic legal resources. Law Librarians cannot do the research for you, prepare documents for you, or provide legal advice.

About The FSMSCLL
The FSM Supreme Court Law Library(s) (FSMSCLL) is composed of a total of four libraries. The main law library is located in Palikir, Pohnpei at the FSM Supreme Court Main Office, and one library located in each of the three FSM Supreme Court Offices located in Chuuk, Yap and Kosrae. The two law libraries located in the states of Yap and Kosrae are shared and operated by both the FSM and the State Courts. With the generous donations and support received from members of the judiciary, legal profession, family members, and other law libraries in the Pacific, our collections of legal materials continue to grow. These materials enrich the library’s legal collections and are used by researchers to improve users’ collective understanding of FSM’s laws and beyond. FSMSCLL gratefully acknowledges the generosity of its donors and benefactors who have supported our law libraries throughout the year.

2020 FSM National Law Day

Greetings from Palikir Pohnpei!

The 2020 FSM National Law Day Coordinating Committee is now organized and pleased to announce that it is once again time to start preparing for the annual debate contest open to all eligible high school students in this Nation. The annual competition has become a tradition that commemorates the FSM Law Day, the day that the Supreme Court of the Federated States of Micronesia was instated and inaugurated as the highest Court of this Nation on July 12, 1981. This year marks the 39th Anniversary of the FSM Supreme Court. The Coordinating Committee welcomes all secondary schools in the National to participate. Since July 12 falls on a Sunday, the Coordinating Comittee agreed to have the FSM National Law Day Debates on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 for all activities to be prepared and well organized. This year's law day activities will be held in the State of Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia.

The Topic for this year's debate is "Be It Resolved ThatTthe FSM File A Claim With The International Court of Justice Against The More Developed Nations Who Are Host To Large Multi-National Corporations Which Have Contributed Heavily To Global Warming And Climate Change, Seeking Redress And Relief Including Monetary Damages."
